4 Quick Tips To Rev Up Your Metabolism
The summer is here and that means it’s beach time. Hopefully you’ve been enjoying this gorgeous weather and have been making it down to the water. Now, if you’ve put off hitting the beach because of that little extra flab around the midsection then read up on my four top tips on how to boost your metabolism and lose that extra bulge.
#1 BUILD MUSCLE
This by far is my TOP tip!
If you’re not strength training then you need to start now. The benefits are just too great.
And please don’t tell me that you don’t weight train because you’re worried about getting ‘too big’. Trust me, that’s a problem you would like to have.
Add strength training to your routine and at the very least you will maintain your weight, and maybe even add a few lbs.
The important thing to remember is that muscle burns calories and it keeps your metabolism running high.
So START weight training!
#2 HIGH-INTENSITY CARDIO
High-intensity cardio/training sessions are super important to boosting your metabolism and burning fat!
If you’re still doing long, slow, boring sessions on the treadmill then you need to STOP.
What you need to start doing is short, high-intensity interval training.
Short meaning 20 minutes and high-intensity meaning you’re wiped when you’re through.
For example, after a warm-up you can do try something like walking for 30 sec and then jogging for 15 sec.
As you get in better shape you can increase the speeds or rpm’s. You need to continously push yourself.
The bottom line is if you want to look like you never have, then you have to try things you’ve never done.
#3 STOP DIETING
Don’t think for one second that you can lose weight by starving your body.
The reality is you’ll be accomplishing the opposite.
Your body will go into survival mode and try to store any calories that it does get as fat.
What you want to do is feed your body nutritionally dense meals at regular intervals.
This is what gets your metabolism running high.
Not only that but you will be feeling better and have more energy throughout the day.
#4 GET SOME SLEEP
Getting enough sleep is an often overlooked factor to a good metabolism.
But your body can treat a lack of sleep the same way it can treat a lack of calories.
Scientifically speaking your cortisol levels increase and you can become more insulin resistant.
Translation, your body will tend to store calories instead of burning them.
And this leads to you gaining more fat.
So shutoff the tv. Power down the laptop and get some sleep
There you have it. 4 quick and easy tips to getting your metabolism into high gear and your body ready for the beach!
